The Yellow Post Run Club
*WINTER RUNNING SCHEDULE*
ULTRA Trail Run Group
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
10AM
LOCATION: THE YELLOW POST, 546 PINE KNOT AVE.
1 - 2 Hour Run on trails. Includes hills! In general we will determine the day’s route based on the group who shows up. It’s likely we will split into groups based on skillsets and mileage desired. No ultra or trail running experience needed. Everyone is welcome!
Our 4 Mile loop from the store runs to the top of the old ski slopes and back to The Village. Catch some great lake views and enough vert (900ft) to keep it honest. This is a 1 hourish run/hike for most people. A faster runner will complete this in about 45 minutes. Slower runners could be 1hr 15 min.
The loop is easy to extend, or cut short, based on skill set or time desires. In general we’ll have another option to extend the run from the top of the climb, adding on up to another hour of running on the south shore ridge. We will keep this run on the schedule until snow interferes. If you plan to join this route bring water and fuel.
Memorial 5K Run Training Group
WED - FRIDAY

This run will be an out and back with a turn around time meaning we’ll all get the mileage we are capable of in the time allotted and start/finish together. This is as flat as it gets in Big Bear! Use the run as a hard workout or an easy recovery run.
THE YELLOW POST LOOP - Our signature village loop. Starts/Finishes from the walking path intersects Village Dr. Head west on Village and make a left turn on Pine Knot Ave. Turn right onto Cameron Dr and take on the first hill of the Memorial 5K Run. Continue across the top of Cherry Dr before running back down into The Village on Knickerbocker Rd. Turn left on Village Dr and finish back at the walking path. When you’re finish check your results againts the leaderboard in the shop and post your workout on Strava!

Our Story
In the heart of the mountains, Yellow Post campsites are the hidden gems of the outdoors—untamed, off-the-grid spots where adventure starts the moment you set off to find it. Just like these sites, our store, The Yellow Post, is built for those who seek to go beyond the ordinary mountain experience. We have premium athleticwear, gear essentials, and unique accessories for explorers ready to elevate their adventure. We love these campsites because they are first-come-first-serve, and don’t require reservations—true havens for the free-spirited, the spontaneous, and those who prefer the thrill of the open trail over a predictable campout.
Yellow Post campsites are typically nestled off the beaten path, often accessible only to those willing to take on rougher roads and limited amenities. This is camping stripped down to its essentials: no cell service, no crowds, and no distractions—just you and the wild. At The Yellow Post, we believe in that same spirit of authentic exploration, and we’re here to provide the gear that keeps you comfortable and safe as you venture off the grid. These remote sites are often perched with a view—a pristine lake, ancient rock formations, or wide-open skies—rewarding those who make the effort to reach them with unforgettable experiences.
Our mission is to bring that sense of real, untamed adventure to everything we offer. We curate products that are as reliable and rugged as you need them to be. We know that when it comes to exploring the outdoors, the best adventures are often a bit out of reach for the average traveler—and that’s exactly what makes them worth it. At The Yellow Post, we’re here to help you reach those places and truly Elevate Your Adventure.
So why did we name our store after these campsites? Because just like Yellow Post campsites, we’re here for those who want something different—something off the map, unscheduled, and unforgettable. Whether you’re an ultra runner, backcountry hiker, rock climber, or simply someone who craves the wild, make The Yellow Post your trailhead.
